Our Mission
Encouraging scholarly engagement:
to inspire research and debates in the scientific community and beyond
Challenging conventional narratives:
to foster contemporary critical discussions on globalization and law from a historical perspective
Highlighting underexplored knowledge:
to enrich the academic sphere with diverse perspectives and specialized expertise connecting east and west, south and north
Connecting past to present:
to provide historical insights to help understand present-day challenges
Our Origins
The ANTE blog emerged as an interactive platform and forum for specialized knowledge of non-European histories, inspired by the 2022 symposium “Legal Orders Under Pressure”. The initiative was born out of the desire to extend the insightful discussions of the symposium, inviting the wider scientific community to engage, contribute, and expand these critical conversations, and bringing attention to valuable yet less explored areas of study.
Our Format
In periodic colloquies – collections of thematically related articles, accompanied by commentary – the ANTE blog explores questions surrounding transnational transformations of law, specifically aiming to give space to non-Western perspectives.
